I'm currently living in the rolling hills of Tennessee. Born and raised in the same small town that I now reside. Went to college, got my degree and after dating for 6 years, we realized it was due time to make it official. So after a beautiful proposal on a lake in Wyoming, I married my high school sweetheart a short 4 months later. Kyle is my sitcom loving, can fix anything handyman. He is the epitome of a family guy, working hard to provide for us so I can stay home with our 3 littles. I respect him so, SO much.
I had a short stint as a teacher after we got married, teaching both 2nd and 1st grade for 3 years. Then babies happened ;). Caden came along first, our oldest son. He is our first miracle, entering this world just 10 months after I completed chemotherapy for Leukemia (AML). I'm 29 years old and a survivor...going on 5 and a half years now. Jehovah Rapha has healed me from the inside out, down to my blood that was once overcome with cancer. Modern medicine helped, but without a shadow of a doubt I know that the great I AM was the true miracle worker. You can read about my journey here and here.
So I hung my teaching degree on the shelf so that I could be a stay-at-home Mama. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. 22 months after Caden was born, we had our second son, Baylor. Our second miracle baby. Life continued with our 2 boys and I was loving being a mother and a wife, comfortably settling in with play dates and managing a household.
I think God was seeing we were a little too comfortable. And the Lord placed adoption on my heart. He opened my eyes to a world so foreign to me, yet it felt so familiar. I went to Africa and was wrecked for life. It was there that I met a little girl. A little girl who is now my daughter. Hannah Cate, our 3rd miracle child. What a journey it was to bring her home. I saw more of God in that time than I had in my whole life. Oh how He has a heart for the fatherless, my friends. A big, big heart. You can click on the Adoption tab to read more about the journey.
As I write about my life and what I have gone through and seen come to fruition, what I have a passion for, I have only one thing come to mind...His greatness. It is through my weaknesses, my struggles, my journey that He is made Great. That is all I can hope my life bring, really. To have others see Him. I humble myself to His purposes and His will. I always come short, but He makes all things new. He makes all things beautiful.
So now I don't allow myself to become stagnant or idle. I mother my children and love them to pieces and teach them about Him. I tend to my husband's needs and try my very best to show him the respect he deserves. This is my current mission field. I sit and wait to see what the Lord has for us next (right now we are going to move...again! Another story, another day!) Contentment with this, on some days, is hard. I pray for contentment and wisdom daily...hourly!
But besides my role as wife and Mama, there are so many things that make me Amy...
I'm a dreamer and a positive thinking. I thrive on change and don't have a problem taking risks. I love people and hearing their stories.
I love making my home a beautiful place. I have a passion for decor and design and crafting and scouring antique stores for a treasure.
I love cooking meals and baking treats for my family and friends.
I love party planning and being surrounded by those we love so much.
I love being a total book nerd, internet guru, and social network butterfly.
I love being outside, in the mountains, on the lake.
I love coffee. My IV for function on a daily basis. French press is my favorite. And black. It has to be black. No cream. No sugar.
I love orphans and have a desire for others to be made aware of their plight and finding ways we can help.
Oh and fashion. I love boots and jewelry, head scarves and chunky sweaters, leggings and great flats.
I also have a thing for rainy days and a serious problem with procrastination.
I also have a thing for rainy days and a serious problem with procrastination.
I love to write, both by pen and paper and computer.
And it's through my writing that I blog. I blog for me, to document my family and our life. I blog for Him, to bring glory to the upmost high when He teaches me a treasure about His word. I blog for other Mamas, so that we can walk along side together, rallying each other on. I blog for the lost, so that they may see who my God is through me. I blog. And I love it. Thanks for following along. ;)
Now it's your turn! Would love to know a little about you too! Feel free to introduce yourselves in the comments! I LOVE comments. ;)

Amy, you are the REAL deal, and I like to think you make me cooler just by association.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to learn more about you! I just started blogging a few months ago, and yours is one of my favorites to follow after only a few days. I share many of the same passions, but I am not as good at using the computer to make my blog this inviting and attractive. Way to go on honoring God with your life (Romans 12:1-2)!!!

ReplyDeleteSo precious!! I am visiting from Kelly's Korner. Such an amazing story he is writing!! We have 2 kids so far, we foster to adopted them, over a 2 yr process in our home until it was legal! We'd like to foster again (hopeful for adoption again), and we'd also like to adopt from Africa. But I'm realizing we can't do that at the same time. so...that makes for some decisions for us to make! :-) - http://www.davidandheidifamily.blogspot.com
